2022 Chevy Equinox Parked Near Water

Safety and security is at the heart of every Chevy vehicle. We want you to hit the New Orleans roads with total peace of mind, so you can focus on staying comfortable and connected behind the wheel. Safety features have become more and more advanced over the past few years, and Chevy is proud to be at the forefront of this sophisticated new technology. Chevy vehicles offer a full suite of advanced standard and available features, including Chevy adaptive cruise control, the Chevy safety assist package, and driver assistance technology. The team at Leson Chevrolet Company, Inc. has outlined everything you need to know about the 2022 lineup of Chevrolet safety features in the guide below – check it out!

Standard and Available Chevy Safety Features

At the core of the Chevy safety experience are the “active technology” features, which range from the basics like intelligent high-beam headlights and an HD rear vision camera to advanced technology like Chevy adaptive cruise control and rear parking assist. Check out the full list of standard and available Chevy safety features:

  • Forward Collision Alert & Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Front Pedestrian Braking
  • Lane Keep Assist & Lane Departure Warning
  • Following Distance Indicator
  • Chevy Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Rear Vision Camera
  • High-Definition Surround Vision

  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Rear Park Assist
  • Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist

Chevy Safety Assist Package

If you’d prefer to bundle your safety features together rather than picking and choosing, consider upgrading to the Chevy Safety Assist package! This available package includes six core features from the list above:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking: The automatic emergency brake will engage if you’re in danger of colliding with a vehicle, pedestrian, or any other object in front of your Chevy.
  • Forward Collision Alert: If enabled, this system will alert you if it detects a potential front-end collision, and can apply hard emergency braking to prevent an accident.
  • Front Pedestrian Braking: When driving below 50 miles an hour, your Chevy will alert you and even apply the emergency brake if a pedestrian is suddenly detected in front of your vehicle.
  • Following Distance Indicator: You’ll get a brief alert if you’re following the car in front of you too closely.
  • Lane Keep Assist & Lane Departure Warning: If you accidentally drift out of your lane, your Chevy will alert you with a chime and a visual notification, as well as gently turning the steering wheel if you enable it.
  • Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist: This system detects traffic around you and automatically toggles your high beams on or off depending on whether there are cars in front of you.

Chevy Driver Assistance Technology

Many new Chevy vehicles come with three additional driver-assistance features designed to maximize your safety and security on the Metairie roads. Here are the details:

  • Safety Alert Seat: If a collision is imminent, this feature will vibrate in the direction of the accident – left, right, or both sides. This helps you take action as quickly as possible. You can also configure the alerts so they come in the form of a sound notification.
  • OnStar Safety & Security: OnStar is Chevy’s 24/7 driver assistance service, ready to help you with anything from a flat tire to getting locked out of your vehicle. Our OnStar advisors are on call and ready to spring into action at a moment’s notice to help you out.
  • Teen Driver: If you have a new driver in the family, Teen Driver lets you customize a wide variety of features and settings to your key fob, including extra safety systems, seat belt alerts, and an in-vehicle report card.
